Tissue Culture Lab: Well equipped tissue culture lab was set up in the department for research purposes.
Research work leading to the award of M.Phil degree from Anamalai University is going on in the department from the year 2006 onwards.
1. Control of microbial spoilage of fruits and vegetables by Bacteriocin produced by Lactobacillus MTCC 0447. Under the guidance of Dr. T.K. Abraham awarded in 2007
2. Production of Biosurfactants from Cashew Apple juice using Psudiomonas Sp. Under the guidance of Dr. T.K. Abraham awarded in 2010.
3. Effect of Protease enzyme on cell wall degrading enzymes of Trichoderma viride . Under the guidance of Dr. T.K. Abraham awarded in 2010.
Six of the final year students have been qualified for the GATE 2013.
Dr.T K. Abraham , HOD, BT&BCE Department has been conferred Honorary Fellowship of the Indian Mycological Society in its Golden Jubilee celebrations held at University of Calcutta, for the contributions in the field of Mycology. He is also a fellow if Kerala Academy Science and International Society for Conservation of Natural Resources.
Sri.S.Alwan, Professor BT&BCE Department, has been awarded “ISRO Excellence award 2012 for development of PSOXL Chandrayaan-1 mission”
Dr. J. R Anoop Raj, Assistant Professor, BT & BCE has been awarded Ph.D degree in Chemical Engineering(2013), under School of Mechanical and Building Sciences with area of specialization on the topic ‘Environmental Biodegradation of Perchlorate’ from VIT University, Vellore.
Dr. J. R Anoop Raj, Assistant Professor, BT & BCE has been awarded ”The best researcher award 2013” from School of Mechanical and Building Sciences, VIT University in recognition of his contribution to research through publication in peer reviewed journals.
