Dr. R. Ibrahimkutty

HOD – ECE

Dr. Ibrahimkutty R, retired as Principal from College of Engineering, Trivandrum. He also served as Principal, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam, Dean Faculty of Engineering, University of Kerala and Member Board of Governers, NIT Trichy. He started his career as a lecturer in Regional Engineering College Calicut. He subsequently joined College of Engineering Trivandrum and served there for 20 years in various levels as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Professor, Dean (UG), Dean (PG) and Principal. He received his PhD from IIT Kharagpur and his area of interest are Electromagnetic Theory and Microwave Engineering. He has guided many projects & was an active coordinator of IMPACT project in College of Engineering, Trivandrum.

PG COORDINATOR

Prof. Deepa Nair has total 20 years of teaching experience in University of Mumbai, University of Goa and University of Kerala. She has also worked as a software development trainer. She is involved in active research in the field of image processing and has published papers in journals and presented papers in many conferences. Her area of interests include linear and non-linear enhancement of natural images and computer vision.

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

The department was established in 2002 for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering and a PG program in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation was introduced in 2012. The Department, with its facilities and experienced faculty provide a conducive environment for developing students’ technical and learning skills. Students’ achievements include University ranks, awards in various technical competitions, paper presentations in International conferences etc. To improve teaching-learning process, expert talks, curriculum related workshops, mentoring, teacher evaluation by students, professional body activities etc. are conducted regularly. For the overall development of the students, the Department organizes industrial visits, training programmes and study tours. For sharpening the skills of the students, the Department organizes aptitude test, mock interview sessions, group discussions etc. Finishing schools are conducted to improve the soft skills of the students. Bridge courses help the students in understanding the pre-requisites of the subjects in the curriculum.

ASSOCIATION OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING STUDENTS
(SPECTRA)

The Student Association of Department of ECE, SPECTRA provides a platform for the students to showcase their technical skills and regularly organizes competitions like quiz and circuit debugging. It also helps the students get an exposure into a professional environment by conducting industrial visits.

CONFERENCES

The Department organizes a national conference every year for P G students, a technical festival every year for U G students and jointly conducts a symposium every three years.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY

The department has a full-fledged library with borrowing facility. Apart from print collections, the library also has a wide range of electronic resources. The Department library has a large number of books and journals to cater to the need of Electronics and Communication students.

LABORATORIES

The department has well-equipped laboratories  with fast internet connection. Apart from the basic laboratories for the undergarduates, highly specialized labs in VLSI, Embedded Systems, Instrumentation and Control Systems are set up in the Department. Latest software like MATLAB, Simulink, OrCAD, LabVIEW, Cadence, PSpice, Xilinx etc are available in the Department. Students are also encouraged to use open source software like LaTex, Scilab etc.
