The IEEE name was originally an acronym for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. Today, the organization’s scope of interest has expanded into so many related fields, that it is simply referred to by the letters I-E-E-E (pronounced Eye-triple-E).

IEEE’s members help promote the technology and engineering profession by enabling affordable student membership, funding university program accreditation and introducing technology careers to young people around the world.

The official webpage of IEEE MCET SB, designed by Mr. Danith Krishna( S6 CS) was launched by Mr. Srinivasan R, Vice Chair, IEEE Kerala Section. There was a technical talk by Shri S.Gopakumar on The Ethics of Engineering and an interactive session with students by Mr. Srinivasan R. IEEE MCETSB in association with ISTE chapter MCET convened a talk on “Robotics – Stepstowards.

IEEESB MCET conducted its first general body meeting of the year 2013 on 13th February, 2013.IEEESB MCET PES chapter started functioning on 14th February, 2013 with Akhil I R as faculty advisor.Karthik Gopakumar, Aswathy Mohan, Sandhya Sathyan S, Parvathy Mohan and Ashish S Kumar of S5 CS attended a two day workshop on robotics at Government Engineering College, Barton Hill.On 16th & 17th of March IEEESB MCET in association with Virscent Technologies conducted a two day workshop on Robotics named ‘TECHNOPETZ-ROBOTICS WORKSHOP 2013’ which saw a participation of around 90+ students.On 3rd & 4th of August IEEESB MCET in association with Virscent Technologies conducted a two day workshop on Computer Vision Controlled Robotics named ‘SIXTH SENSE BOTICS’ which saw a participation of around 150 students from several colleges around the state.A 15 Member volunteer crew from IEEESB MCET volunteered the IEEE GHTC SAS 2013 held at Technopark.
