Workshop on Advanced Computer Training for Teachers of High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools in Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology from 8th May to 12th May 2017.
A five day workshop on “Advanced Computer Training for Teachers of High schools and Higher Secondary Schools” organized by the Department Computer Science & Engineering under the Community Outreach programme of the CS Department was inaugurated in Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology by the Director Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran, on 8th May 2017. Dr. S. Sheela , Principal of MCET presided over the inaugural function in which Dr. P.Jayaprakash, HoD, Department of Computer Science, Dr. Madhukar Mallaya and Prof. Prathibha S Nair talked. The workshop envisages hands on sessions, covering Computer Hardware and network basics and Free and Open Source software with commonly used application software like open office database, Graphics and image editing, sound recording etc. The workshop also covers scripting languages like HTML, XML, Java script and PHP etc. Teachers from various schools in Trivandrum participated in the workshop. The workshop will come to a close on 12th May 2017.
Computer Society of India Student chapter MCET was inaugurated on 2nd May 2017 by Prof .Prashant R Nair ( Vice chairman , CSE Dept & Nodal Office, Amrita School of Engineering) followed by inaugural address. Dr. P Jayaprakash (HOD CSE) welcomed the chief guest and the audience. He also gave an overview of CSI. Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran ( Director, MCET) and Dr. S .Sheela (Principal, MCET) addressed the august audience. Prof Prashant R Nair presented the Institutional certificate of CSI to Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran ( Director, MCET) during the inaugural ceremony. Prof Prashant R Nair was honored with college memento by Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran. Mr. Manjith ( Student Coordinator) extended the vote of thanks. The inaugural function was followed by keynote address by the chief guest, Prof Prashant R Nair on the topic Biometrix.
The College Day of Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology was celebrated on 20th April 2017. The celebrations was inaugurated by Dr. Sasi Tharoor M.P. College Chairman Shri. G. Mohandas, honoured him by adorning a ponnada and addressed the audience. Secretary Smt. Rani Mohandas, presented a momento to the chief guest. Director, Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran presented the annual report of the college. Principal Dr. S.Sheela welcomed the audience. The students and teachers were given awards for their achievements. This was followed by cultural programmes by the students.
Prabandh-17, the National Educational Seminar, jointly organized by the departments of ECE, EEE & CSE, was conducted in Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology on 19th and 20th of April 2017. It was inaugurated by Dr.JayaSankar Prasad C (Director, ICFOSS) followed by the inaugural address Smt.Rani Mohandas (Secretary, VNGP Trust) graced the occasion with her presence. Proceedings were released by Dr.JayaSankar Prasad C by handling over one copy to Smt.Rani Mohandas & CD’s were released by handing over one copy to Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran (Director, MCET). Dr.S.Sheela (Principal, MCET) welcomed the Chief Guest and the audience. Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran delivered the presidential address. Dr.P Jayaprakash (HOD, CSE) gave an overview about Prabandh. Dr.R Ibrahimkutty (HOD, ECE) offered the felicitation. Prof.Gangadharan (Organizing Secretary) extended the vote of thanks. The inaugural function was followed by talks from eminent professionals in their respective streams and paper presentations from participants from other institutions.

It was inaugurated by Dr. Suresh Das,( Executive Vice president, KSCSTE) followed by inaugural address. Shri S Somanath ( Director LPSC, ISRO ) delivered the keynote address. Smt. Rani Mohandas ( Secretary, VNGP Trust) addressed the gathering. CD & proceedings were released by Dr. Suresh Das by handing over one copy to Shri G Mohandas, ( Chairman, VNGP Trust ). MCET Newsletter – 2017 was released by Shri S Somanath by handing over one copy to Smt. Rani Mohandas. Dr. S Sheela , ( Principal, MCET) welcomed the Chief Guests and the audience. Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran (Director, MCET) delivered the presidential address and Dr. Lathika B S (Dean Student Affairs) offered the felicitation. Mr. Sachin (Colloquium student Secretary ) extended the vote of thanks. The inaugural function was followed by other technical events which was attended by students from other institutes
Master. Johan Joshua (one and half years old) s/o Mr.Ajukumar residing nearby our college is suffering from osteoporosis and need to undergo bone marrow transplant at CMC Vellore. The operation and treatment cost around 25 Lakh Rupees which the poor family struggled to raise. The parents has approached us for financial support. As part of Social service activities of under the auspices of NSS MCET Unit has donated a medical assistance of Rs 50,000 /- collected from the students and staffs of our institution. The cheque has been transferred to the parent by Director and Principal at a function held in the Director’s office on 06.03.2017.
Department of Computer science and Engineering of MCET organized a one day community Outreach programme “Computer Fundamentals and Application Awareness Programme” on 24/01/2017 for 21 selected students of Kairali Vidya Bhavan, Nedumangad. Two faculty members also participated.
Objectives of the Programme
To provide complete awareness about the hardware and basic electronic components of different types of computers like desk top, lap top, iPad and smart phones.
To provide complete awareness about the different types of operating systems commonly used in different types of computers and the popularly used application software for day to day applications like word processing, spreadsheets and presentation with hands on practical session.
To provide complete awareness about the usage and application of Internet Technology.
IEDC of MCET organizing a 3 day residential boot camp program on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The aim of this program is to boost up the innovative characteristics and develop the Entrepreneurial culture among the professional students. The program includes workshops, group discussions, expert talks, hands on training and gaming activities, mainly focusing on the field of entrepreneurship.
The program is scheduled to be held on 16th, 17th, and 18th of March 2017 at CGPC hall of MCET. Registration amount for a participant is Rs 1500, which includes food and accommodation, workshop kit and other requirements.
Accommodation will be arranged separately for both boys and girls in college hostel. Since it is a residential program participants are not allowed to leave the campus before 18th March.
We are restricting the number of external participants as 30 based on first come first serve.
