Mohandas Student Mentoring System (MS@MCET) is as a special mentorship program initiated to provide additional academic as well as emotional support to the students of MCET. The system ensures implementation of effective ‘Mentoring’ whereby ten students are put under the patronage of a faculty member designated as ‘Mentor’. The mentors are training by a professional team before assigning them the task of student mentoring.
The mentor training for this academic year was on 21st and 22nd July 2017 and the resource team was ‘CORPORETTA’ Corporate resource team for training and action , Kacheripady, Cochin
Pilot faculty was Psy.VIPIN V.ROLDANT M.Phil. (Ind./Org. Psych.) rank holder in Psychology and a proven achiever and a contributor in the fields from Psychology to personal coaching and to training with multifaced talents like column writing, acting etc… He is the Chief Consultant Psychologist of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Cochin. Through Practice and experience Psy.Vipin Roldant is well known as Peak Performance Coach and Behavioral Training Specialist in five major specialties of Psychology such as Education, family, Corporate, Sports and Media.
Thirty faculty members attended the two day workshop and found the same very effective.
Two-Week AICTE approved FDP on “Foundation Program in ICT for Education” conducted by IIT Bombay from 03 Aug to 07 Sep 2017
This workshop is sponsored by the National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt. of India conducted by IIT Bombay.
The workshop will be transmitted live through internet to 353 coordinating remote centers across the country.

As this FDP is not subject-specific, teaching faculty from any domain, including faculty from management, polytechnics, science, arts and commerce can participate. Teachers registered in a Masters or a PhD program, during their employment as a teacher, can also participate. Additionally, participants should have basic familiarity with computer.
Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) of MCET is conducting 6 days residential ‘Finishing School’ training programme for final year B.Tech. & MCA students from 17th-22nd July 2017. Around 230 students are attending the programme. The programme aims to improve the employability of the students and align them with the corporate world.

Two week ISTE STTP on ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEM came to end on 15/7/17.At valedictory function both internal and external participants gave feed backs.Provisional certificates was given to participants by Dr. Sobha Manakkal.

Faculty Development Programme on “Research Methodology and Mathematical approaches for Engineering Reasearch was conducted from July 3rd to July 7th at MCET campus. It was inaugurated by Dr.K.P.P.Pillai. MCET Director Dr.Asha Latha Thampuran , Principal Dr.S.Sheela were also present during inauguration. More than 25 faculties from various colleges participated in the workshop. Various eminent personalities like Dr.N.R.U.K.Kartha, Dr.Indu (Asst Professor, Govt Engineering College,Barton Hill), Dr.E.Krishnan (Retd.Professor, University College,TVM), Dr. Manil T.Mohan (National Reasearch Council), Dr. Madhukar Mallayya( HOD, Mathematics Dept, MCET) had given lectures. The programme aimed to provide in depth knowledge about various research methodologies and mathematical calculations required for research scholars. The course enhanced the knowledge of faculties in Mathematics and is helpful for clearing PhD Entrance.
We are proud to announce that NSS unit MCET was presented an appreciation award for the conduct of 3 day Punarjani minicamp .NSS unit MCET created durable assets worth Rs15 lakh during the 3 day camp at SAT hospital Thiruvananthapuram.
Programme officer Manu Mohan Nair received the award on behalf of both units 116 &159 from Mr V K Ibrahim Kunju MLA Kalamaserey, at the function organized by NSS technical cell.
Mcet NSS technical cell units 159 and 116 in association with Grama Panchayat, Anad organized a monsoon time cleaning drive to prevent outbreak of dengue fever and other epidemics at Anad on 28.06.2017.
Responding to the govt initiative of monsoon time cleaning, 40 NSS volunteers from 2nd and 3rd year Btech participated in the cleaning drive which was inaugurated by panchayat president Mr. Anad Suresh. The students cleaned 100m stretch of road along the junction.

International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21/06/2017 with a yoga class conducted by Shri. Jayaraj Hrishikesh, Trainer for Youth Program to faculty members of MCET in the presence of The Director and The Principal. Around 30 numbers of faculty members attended the program.

BEST B.TECH PROJECT COMPETITON, PROJECT EXHIBITION & OPEN HOUSE
(Under the auspices of Research Wing –MCET)
SAMAGRA 2017 and OPEN HOUSE MCET, the two day event envisaged as a technical outreach programme of Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology, Anad, was organised on 16th and 17thJune. Samagra provided an exhibition platform for display and demonstration of working projects of final year B.Tech students of Bio-technology,Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil Engineering branches of the college for of the college.
In Samagra, the projects developed by students of Electronics and Electrical Engineering stream focused on novel ideas in conserving energy which included Smart Scheduling of Home Appliances,Street Light Automation,Resonant Coil Based Footstep Power Generator. The computer science and Communication engineering students demonstrated their works on automation like Smart Bin, e-health card, Wireless Multipurpose Robotic Vehicle with Robotic Arm,Automatic Ration Material Distribution Based on Biometrics fingerprint enabled passport authentication,Vehicle Automation with Pre-Safe Technology etc. Students of Mechanical Engineering stream came up with projects that would benefit the less fortunate segment of society. Car Top Wheelchair Carrier, ,Car For Differently Abled Person were some of their realizations.
Eco- friendly considerations were the theme chosen by Civil Engineering students which included Heat Reduction in Building by using Silica Aerogel, Waste water treatment using Lab Scale Napier Reed Bed System, Reuse of Plastic Waste as Construction Material etc. The students from Biotechnology stream focused on research intensive tasks. Biosynthesis of Silver Nano particles Purification Optimization and Application of Tannase from Rice Husk, Extract of Fruit and Root of Coccinia Grandis were some of their outcome. Amongst the innovations unveiled, Isolation, sequencing & amplification of cho gene from bacillus sonorensis, Ultrasonic haptic vision system with intelligent navigation capabilities for the visually impaired,an automated paddy harvesting and collecting machine with a novel paddy collecting mechanism to diminishloss of grains after harvesting received appreciation from the visitors.
SAMAGRA was inaugurated by Principal Dr.Sheela. A team of experts from academia and Industry appraised the depth and breadth of each project in detail and shared their views. The modifications and imperfections pointed out by experts were eagerly noted by the team members which could be left for the successors to attend. During these days all major laboratories of the Institution was open to public and VSSC also contributed to the occasion with their advanced exhibits.

SAMAGRA, primarily organized as a Technical Outreach Program marked as the accomplishment of societal obligation of the Institution. Exhibition hall was abundant with school students from various schools in the locality and the college fleet was plying ceaselessly to commute them from respective schools. Each project work was displayed with the help of postures and presentations and school students enthusiastically interacted with project members to understand the fundamentals of the exhibits.
