Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering

Biotechnology is the fastest developing field and is among the most modern branches in the Engineering streams at MCET. This department is one of the first department to start functioning from the year 2002 when the college was inaugurated. Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering has the potential to transform the industry and to develop ‘green’ or environmentally friendly solutions to the contamination and degradation of nature by pollutants. Bioprocess plays a key role in manufacturing pharmaceuticals, biomaterials and agents for gene and cell therapies. In addition, biological approaches play a pivotal role in the processing of new classes of renewable commodity sources. The four year undergraduate B.Tech programme in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering being offered in the department has the main objectives to train students as leaders in Research and Development, in industry and produce good quality production engineers to cater to the Industries in the field of Biotechnology and other allied fields. The curriculum encompasses the latest development in meet the present and future needs of industries. The has an engineering orientation with adequate depth and breadth in science of biotechnology and equal coverage of chemical engineering topics relevant to biotechnology. The students who graduate will uniquely be capable of serving both biotechnology and chemical industries. The curriculum includes relevant courses and laboratories in biological sciences, chemical and  biochemical engineering together with compulsory industrial training and project work. An array of elective subjects gives as opportunity for greater depth in biology and engineering applications Relative to many peer institutions the undergraduate programme offered by the department is uniquely interdisciplinary, highly practical oriented and with emphasis on hands on training. Students are also offered courses and training outside the curriculum to suIt the Industrial need.

Only by exploring civil engineering’s Influence in shaping the world we know today, can we creatively envision the progress of our tomorrows.

Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology is proud to announce the commencement of the B.Tech Degree course in Civil Engineering, The mission ol our department is to open the minds of students to knowledge. to instill in the minds of the students the love, the habit and ways of learning and to enable students to take best advantage of their educational opportunities.The Department is determined to ensure that students of all ability levels are well equipped to meet the challenges at work and Me and to develop in themselves a sense of social commitment so that they would play a vital role in transforming the society.

The intake at undergraduate level in the Civil Engineering Department during the current academic year is 60. The UG curriculum is broad-based and designed to introduce The students With a Wide range of problems encountered by civil engineers, The major subjects dealt with are Surveying. Concrete Technology, Analysis and Design of Structures, Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Water Resources engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering etc.

Electives and independently conducted projects are also offered in enable the students to develop additional depth in the areas at specific interest to them.

Computer Science and Engineering

The department commenced in 2002 offering B.Tech Degree in Computer Science and Engineering.

Further in 2012 M.Tech. Degree course in Computer Science and Engineering was started in the institute. The Department is well supported state-of- the art facility and inspirations of a highly motivated faculty. The Department is located in the CSE/IT block in the campus with pleasant setting of a serene atmosphere. Apart from extending training to the students within the framework of the university curriculum, special emphasis is given to further value addition by way of imparting training to the students on emerging areas that cater to varying needs of the industry.

The department provides and supports high quality education and training to encourage independent thinking and initiatives. A close rapport is maintained with researchers of computational interest in other Universities within the country and abroad. Faculty and students co-ordinate with investigators of available research resources or industrial organizations to maintain the pace with the fast changing trends of lT industry.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a continuously evolving subject. As technology has advanced, so have the challenges facing the modern engineer. The B.Tech course in Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the academic year 2004—05 The department has best facilities and faculty to provide knowledge on theoretical and practical aspects of different areas of electrical engineering The course is designed to have an effective blend of engineering intuition and mathematical rigor on students.

The course encompasses the fundamental aspects such as power generation, transmission and distribution. power system protection, electrical machines, measurement system, control system. electronics devices and circuits, power electronics etc. Apart from this, it gives emphasis to emerging technologies like high voltage engineering, power semiconductors, digital signal processing etc.

The field of Electronics and Communication Engineering encompasses all areas of human life. Today is an era of electronics and communications and research into how electronics are used in instrumentation and communication forms the core of this department. The Department of Electronics and Communications became a pan of this celebrated institution in the year 2002. The department, headed by professors and assistant professors who are experts in their own disciplines. aims at educating and training students with sound knowledge and awareness in the latest trends in electronics and communication technologies. Keeping in line with feet changing technology, the department has a we designed, constantly reviewed teaching plan to incorporate all advancements in existing and emerging technologies. Since its commencement, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training and research at undergraduate and post graduate levels in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering with broad emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems.
