International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21/06/2017 with a yoga class conducted by Shri. Jayaraj Hrishikesh, Trainer for Youth Program to faculty members of MCET in the presence of The Director and The Principal. Around 30 numbers of faculty members attended the program.

BEST B.TECH PROJECT COMPETITON, PROJECT EXHIBITION & OPEN HOUSE
(Under the auspices of Research Wing –MCET)
SAMAGRA 2017 and OPEN HOUSE MCET, the two day event envisaged as a technical outreach programme of Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology, Anad, was organised on 16th and 17thJune. Samagra provided an exhibition platform for display and demonstration of working projects of final year B.Tech students of Bio-technology,Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil Engineering branches of the college for of the college.
In Samagra, the projects developed by students of Electronics and Electrical Engineering stream focused on novel ideas in conserving energy which included Smart Scheduling of Home Appliances,Street Light Automation,Resonant Coil Based Footstep Power Generator. The computer science and Communication engineering students demonstrated their works on automation like Smart Bin, e-health card, Wireless Multipurpose Robotic Vehicle with Robotic Arm,Automatic Ration Material Distribution Based on Biometrics fingerprint enabled passport authentication,Vehicle Automation with Pre-Safe Technology etc. Students of Mechanical Engineering stream came up with projects that would benefit the less fortunate segment of society. Car Top Wheelchair Carrier, ,Car For Differently Abled Person were some of their realizations.
Eco- friendly considerations were the theme chosen by Civil Engineering students which included Heat Reduction in Building by using Silica Aerogel, Waste water treatment using Lab Scale Napier Reed Bed System, Reuse of Plastic Waste as Construction Material etc. The students from Biotechnology stream focused on research intensive tasks. Biosynthesis of Silver Nano particles Purification Optimization and Application of Tannase from Rice Husk, Extract of Fruit and Root of Coccinia Grandis were some of their outcome. Amongst the innovations unveiled, Isolation, sequencing & amplification of cho gene from bacillus sonorensis, Ultrasonic haptic vision system with intelligent navigation capabilities for the visually impaired,an automated paddy harvesting and collecting machine with a novel paddy collecting mechanism to diminishloss of grains after harvesting received appreciation from the visitors.
SAMAGRA was inaugurated by Principal Dr.Sheela. A team of experts from academia and Industry appraised the depth and breadth of each project in detail and shared their views. The modifications and imperfections pointed out by experts were eagerly noted by the team members which could be left for the successors to attend. During these days all major laboratories of the Institution was open to public and VSSC also contributed to the occasion with their advanced exhibits.

SAMAGRA, primarily organized as a Technical Outreach Program marked as the accomplishment of societal obligation of the Institution. Exhibition hall was abundant with school students from various schools in the locality and the college fleet was plying ceaselessly to commute them from respective schools. Each project work was displayed with the help of postures and presentations and school students enthusiastically interacted with project members to understand the fundamentals of the exhibits.
Prayan 2017 was conducted on June 12th 2017, Monday at Mohandas Hall. Around 800 attended the event including students of 2017 passing out batch along with their family members. VNGP trust Chairman Mr. G. Mohandas distributed offer letter for 10 students in South Park Motors as Management Trainee. Students of all branches of B-Tech (2013-17 batch) and M-Tech were given bonafide certificate and memento , followed by grand lunch at 12.30. The programme was conducted by Alumni Association of MCET.
The Management and Staff are proud of MCET, NSS Unit for their great achievement for getting 3rd prize in the District for implementing the Institution Level Agricultural Programme supported by the Agricultural Development Farmers Welfare Development, Govt. of Kerala.
Workshop on Advanced Computer Training for Teachers of High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools in Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology from 8th May to 12th May 2017.
A five day workshop on “Advanced Computer Training for Teachers of High schools and Higher Secondary Schools” organized by the Department Computer Science & Engineering under the Community Outreach programme of the CS Department was inaugurated in Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology by the Director Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran, on 8th May 2017. Dr. S. Sheela , Principal of MCET presided over the inaugural function in which Dr. P.Jayaprakash, HoD, Department of Computer Science, Dr. Madhukar Mallaya and Prof. Prathibha S Nair talked. The workshop envisages hands on sessions, covering Computer Hardware and network basics and Free and Open Source software with commonly used application software like open office database, Graphics and image editing, sound recording etc. The workshop also covers scripting languages like HTML, XML, Java script and PHP etc. Teachers from various schools in Trivandrum participated in the workshop. The workshop will come to a close on 12th May 2017.
