ELIXIR – 2017 (Association of Department of BT&BCE) and IIChE, MCET Student Chapter were inaugurated by Dr. S. Easwaran, Academic Director, Biocon, Bangalore on 5th August 2017, 1pm at CGPC Hall , MCET, ANAD.Welcome Speech and introduction of the Chief Guest were delivered by Prof. S Alwan, HOD, BT&BCE. The Presidential address was given by Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran, Director, MCET. Then Dr. S Sheela, Principal, MCET addressed the gathering. Dr. S. Easwaran gave a session on the prospects of Biotechnology in India and there was an interactive session with the students. Felicitation speech was given by Shri. Praveen Kumar Solasa, Honourable Secretary of IIChE, TVRC. The Joint Secretary of IIChE, TVRC Shri. Somanathan S was also present during the occasion. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Gokul Kesav (Secretary, ELIXIR). An open quiz was also organised.
An Awareness Programme was given to second year Btech students on 3rd August 2017 at 3pm. The talk was given by Shri. E.S.Bijumon, DYSP, Nedumangad. The talk was about the legal actions for ragging a junior student and the consequences of drug abuse. The speaker also cautioned the harmful effects of alcohol consumption. Smt. Ashalatha Thampuran, Director,MCET ,Smt. Sheela S ,Principal,MCET and HOD’s of various department attended the function. The programme was organized by students council along with NSS technical team.
Dept of MCA has conducting a two day orientation programme for the MCA lateral entry applicants at the department on 4 & 5 August, 2017.
The training programme will cover the entire syllabus of the entrance.
College bus facility can be availed by the participants.

Workshop on IOT and Embedded systems –Projects for S5 CSE & ECE Students (KTU) for Academic year 2017-2018
Computer Science & Engineering department of Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology in association with Computer Society of India MCET Chapter is planning to conduct a three days workshop and hands on training on “IOT and Embedded Systems-Projects” from 04th August 2017 to 06th August 2017 ( 3 Days – Friday, Saturday & Sunday) for the fifth semester Computer Science& Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering students. The objective of this workshop is to equip the students with latest trends in technology and use them in designing and developing projects as part of their fifth semester curriculum. Sessions will be handled by eminent experts from industry/Research institutions in the respective areas. A course fee of Rs.850/- will be charged for attending the workshop. Faculty Induction Programme is scheduled from 31st July 2017 to 4th August 2017. Inauguration was held on 31.07.2017 which was inaugurated by Dr. N R U K Kartha.
An Induction programme SANKETHAPRAVESHAM – 2017 for first year students 2017-18 was conducted at Mini Auditorium (Civil Block) on 27th July 2017 about Kerala Startup Mission. The program started at 9.30 am followed by panel discussion on startup. It was followed by Academics – KTU and was concluded at 1.00 pm with a Talk on Technology. The program was jointly organized by Department of Information Technology and Kerala Startup Mission. First year students along with their parents participated in the programme.
In the afternoon session, PTA meeting was conducted at Mohandas Hall. Director of the college Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran explained the whole structure of the institution giving clear description about the various facilities and activities that the college provides including Hostel facilities for Boys and Girls, College Bus Facilities, Arts and cultural activities, Sports meet, Technical meets, Canteen and Store facilities and so on. It was followed by speech on Principal of the college Dr.Sheela S about the various regulations of KTU such as Examination pattern, grading system, activity points etc. The session was conclude after introducing Head of Departments of various branches, staff advisors of various classes, Student council members, ED cell members etc.
Mohandas Student Mentoring System (MS@MCET) is as a special mentorship program initiated to provide additional academic as well as emotional support to the students of MCET. The system ensures implementation of effective ‘Mentoring’ whereby ten students are put under the patronage of a faculty member designated as ‘Mentor’. The mentors are training by a professional team before assigning them the task of student mentoring.
The mentor training for this academic year was on 21st and 22nd July 2017 and the resource team was ‘CORPORETTA’ Corporate resource team for training and action , Kacheripady, Cochin
Pilot faculty was Psy.VIPIN V.ROLDANT M.Phil. (Ind./Org. Psych.) rank holder in Psychology and a proven achiever and a contributor in the fields from Psychology to personal coaching and to training with multifaced talents like column writing, acting etc… He is the Chief Consultant Psychologist of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Cochin. Through Practice and experience Psy.Vipin Roldant is well known as Peak Performance Coach and Behavioral Training Specialist in five major specialties of Psychology such as Education, family, Corporate, Sports and Media.
Thirty faculty members attended the two day workshop and found the same very effective.
Two-Week AICTE approved FDP on “Foundation Program in ICT for Education” conducted by IIT Bombay from 03 Aug to 07 Sep 2017
This workshop is sponsored by the National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt. of India conducted by IIT Bombay.
The workshop will be transmitted live through internet to 353 coordinating remote centers across the country.

As this FDP is not subject-specific, teaching faculty from any domain, including faculty from management, polytechnics, science, arts and commerce can participate. Teachers registered in a Masters or a PhD program, during their employment as a teacher, can also participate. Additionally, participants should have basic familiarity with computer.
Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) of MCET is conducting 6 days residential ‘Finishing School’ training programme for final year B.Tech. & MCA students from 17th-22nd July 2017. Around 230 students are attending the programme. The programme aims to improve the employability of the students and align them with the corporate world.
